Area law enforcement agencies released the following reports of police activity for January:
State police, Kiski Valley
AVONMORE — State troopers received 673 calls for service at the station serving southeastern Armstrong and northwestern Westmoreland counties.
Criminal investigators looked into 58 reported criminal matters, determined six reports were unfounded, cleared 36 cases and arrested 39 people.
On the area highways, patrol officers responded to 49 traffic accidents that resulted in injuries to 14 people. Troopers connected four of the crashes with impaired driving, and arrested 14 motorists last month on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Police issued 427 traffic tickets including 12 for seat belt infractions, gave 169 warnings, assisted 26 motorists and conducted 19 commercial-vehicle inspections.
State police, Ebensburg
EBENSBURG — Troopers serving much of Cambria County answered 691 calls for service last month, according to the commanding officer.
Residents reported 130 criminal offenses to police; investigators set aside two reports as unfounded, cleared 112 cases and filed charges against 111 defendants.
Highway patrol officers investigated 55 accidents that they said resulted in one death and injuries to 10 people. They reported three crashes were DUI related, and arrested 20 drivers for traveling while impaired.
The officers issued 367 traffic citations including 25 for seat belt violations and one for a child safety seat offense, gave 69 warning notices, assisted 27 drivers and performed 17 commercial-vehicle inspections in January.
